Mesa Verde National park is best known for over 4000 archaeological sites of ancestral pueblan civilization and spectacular cliff dwellings which were occupied briefly between AD 1200-1300 and mysteriously and abruptly abandoned. Step-on and guided tours are available to visit cliff dwellings. Chuck Wagon lunches are served from an original wagon in a pine grove. Fine dining in a casual atmosphere is available at the Metate Room and casual cafeteria service is offered at Far View Terrace. A superb selection of Native American handmade retail items are available in 2 locations.
