The Fort Yuma Quechan Indian Museum was built in 1851 as the officer's mess for Fort Yuma, a US Army military post. Some of the walls and a ceiling are restored to their original condition. The museum, established by the tribe, depicts history of the Quechans, military, and early Spanish explorers.
